Serves as the Executive Director of Al-Mujadilah: Center & Mosque for Women and the associate professor of Islamic Studies and Theology at Georgetown University in Qatar, she is a leading scholar in classical Islamic legal theory, law under colonialism, contemporary Islamic family law, and gender and authority in Muslim societies.

Uyghur-French author, activist, and business leader based in Jakarta. She wrote Story of the Stolen Homes, a children’s book about Palestine, with proceeds supporting humanitarian causes.
